Once again… I cried like a baby to a Disney princess movie. I wonder if I’ll get through any of them with dry eyes. Today’s tear jerker was ” The Princess and The Frog.” I think this movie particularly hit close to home because Tiana is an African American princess. Some argue that she’s not a real princess, but I don’t agree. I resonated with how hard she worked for everything. I literally shed blood, sweat, and tears for everything I prize the most. However, I felt for her because her hard work both moved her forward and held her back. All work and no play makes Tiana a boring girl. I praise everyone who is able to find the balance between work and play. It’s an essential component of wellness. Another aspect of the movie that was touching was when the Shadow man showed her all the people that doubted her. In that moment I remembered all the people that shamelessly doubted me and told me I would amount to less. Just as it added to Tiana’s story, their hate just adds to my testimony. I also liked when the prince decided that he would rather be a frog than be without Tiana. That’s true love to me. It was genuine and selfless. I can see I need to invest in some tissues if I want to watch all these movies.
